SUMMARY

The Airport Manager is a full-time position responsible for overall operations of the Greater Cumberland Regional Airport, a low-intensity general aviation community airport. Responsibilities include supervision of airport staff, contractors, and vendors and effectively managing the day-to-day operations. Will also be responsible for strategic planning, budgeting, and growth. Will maintain familiarity and ensure compliance with relevant aviation regulations and safety standards, such as those set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Airport Management, or a related field is preferred with previous experience in airport operations, management, or a related field. Experience in general aviation operations and/or Pilot experience is especially valuable. Economic Development experience is especially valuable.

(A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid Driver's License and eligibility for coverage under the Airport’s motor vehicle insurance policy. The Airport Board has a goal and objective to elevate the airport’s role as an economic driver for our community. To achieve that vision, we need an Airport Manager with a demonstrated ability to lead strategic growth, foster economic development, and identify opportunities that expand the airport’s impact. Economic opportunity and business development should be the primary focus of this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Familiarity with relevant aviation regulations and safety standards, such as those set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Ability to effectively communicate with Airport staff, tenants, aviation authorities, and the local community. Skilled in strong leadership to supervisor Airport staff, contractors, and vendors, and effectively manage the day-to-day Airport operations. Ability to manage the Airport’s budget, allocate resources, and ensure financial stability. Knowledge of safety protocols and security measures to maintain a secure and compliant airport environment. Ability to provide excellent customer service to pilots, passengers, and airport stakeholders. Capability to handle unexpected situations, troubleshooting issues, and find practical solutions. Ability to provide and build positive relationships with the local community and address any concerns they may have about the Airport’s operations. Skilled in development of commercial and industrial business opportunities. Knowledge of workforce development opportunities. Knowledge in identifying airport grant opportunities. Ability to engage in high-level strategic planning regarding the participation of the Airport in regional economic development efforts. Skilled in innovative problem-solving.
